Time is running out to book a place on the Law Centre's Welfare Rights Adviser Programme (WRAP) and Tribunal Representation Course.
The WRAP course is designed specifically for new and/or inexperienced advice workers. Accredited by Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCNNI) the course provides a sound foundation in a broad area of welfare rights. It is assessed and participants are expected to complete home-study assignments. Participants who successfully complete the coursework will be awarded OCNNI certificates
Tutoring is provided on Tuesdays over an eight week period from 9 October - 27 November 2012 (10.00 am - 4.00 pm). The course will be held at Unison Office, The Old Church, Clarendon Dtreet, Derry BT48 7ES.
Prices are £210 for members voluntary, £380 for non members voluntary, £380 for members statutory/private and £560 for non members statutory/private.
Those completing this course will be entitled to a free place on the two day Employment Law Course.

The Tribunal Representation Course is a six day course, accredited by Open College Network Northern Ireland at Level 4, is aimed at advisers who have a reasonable knowledge of social security benefits and who wish to represent at Social Security Appeals or improve their skills in representation. Experienced representatives may be attracted by the chance to refresh their practice and obtain a qualification.
This course will include decision making, challenging and appealing decisions, collecting evidence, planning legal arguments, preparing a submission for a tribunal hearing and tribunal practice and procedure. Advisers will also have the opportunity to participate in mock tribunal hearings.
Tutoring is provided on Thursday 25 October, Thursday 1, 8, 15 and 22 November and Friday 23 November 2012 (10.00 am - 4.00 pm).
Prices are £185 for members voluntary, £270 for non members voluntary, £270 for members statutory/private and £500 for non members statutory/private.The course is linked to Legal Advice National Occupational Standards DA4 – Represent clients in formal proceedings. This course will also count as 40 hours towards CAB, Law Society and Bar Council Continuing Professional Development.
Mapped to Legal Advice National Occupational Standard IB19 – Welfare Rights Legal Advice. Those completing this course will be entitled to a free place on the two day Employment Law Course.
