WRAP: empowering welfare rights advisers

Eamon Doherty, Law Centre (NI) training officer, with some of the WRAP students, Derry 2016

Congratulations to advisers from the Foyle area who completed the latest round of our Welfare Rights Adviser Programme (WRAP).

WRAP will next be run in January 2016. Details to be announced soon.

What is WRAP?

Accredited by Open College Network Northern Ireland (OCNNI), the Welfare Rights Adviser Programme (WRAP) gives new advisers a sound foundation in a broad area of welfare rights.

The course uses blended learning, with extra notes, links and materials available on the Law Centre’s WRAP website, to help trainees with flexible learning and allow them to update their knowledge at all times.

Trainees are awarded an OCNNI certificate  on successful completion of assessed home-study assignments. They can choose to work to Level 2 or Level 3 of the certificate.

The course is also mapped to Legal Advice National Occupational Standard IB19 and qualifies for 18 CPD points for solicitors, barristers and Citizens Advice advisers.
