Law Centre training update

 

Law Centre NI will soon launch its Autumn 2018 Training Programme. This will include training on a wide range of topics, aimed at meeting the training requirements of advisers across the sector.

Also, the Level 3 Certificate in Generalist Advice (incorporating the Welfare Rights Adviser Programme) will be delivered for the first time starting October 2018.

Also, the Level 3 Certificate in Generalist Advice (incorporating the Welfare Rights Adviser Programme) will be delivered for the first time starting October 2018.

This Certificate equips learners to provide advice on a range of issues:

Social security benefits, including:

  • Disability benefits
  • Welfare benefits
  • Universal credit

It also includes:

  • Immigration & Nationality
  • Money advice
  • Employment law
  • Consumer law

Plus:

  • Case recording
  • Interview skills

The qualification is aimed at individual who wish to develop skills in the area of generalist advice and will focus on applied learning, using case studies and active learning exercises. There are no formal entry qualifications.

Date: Delivered over 10 days Thursday 11th October – 13th December 2018    

Time: 10.00am to 4.00 pm

Introduction to Universal Credit (half day)

As the roll out of Universal Credit continues, this course examines the changes and considers the impact on the legacy benefits system.

Belfast - 4 September 2018, Omagh - 5 September 2018 and Derry/Londonderry - 6 September 2018

Understanding Personal Independence Payment (1 day)

PIP has now replaced DLA for working age people. This course considers components, qualifying criteria and case law.

Derry/Londonderry - 20 September 2018 and Belfast - 26 September 2018

Understanding, Avoiding & Challenging Sanctions (half day)

This course will consider the requirements to seek work, the main causes of sanctions, how to avoid them and how to challenge effectively.
