Welfare reform conference

On Tuesday 6 March, the Law Centre and NICVA are hosting a conference on welfare reform.


The conference aims to explore the impact of welfare reform in Northern Ireland.  It will hear from senior officials from the Department of Work & Pensions and the Department for Social Development as well as from other commentators on the impact the Welfare Reform Bill in Northern Ireland.  The conference also includes a political analysis of welfare reform with the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland; Chair of the Social Development Committee and others.

Speakers include Baroness Ruth Lister who sits as a Labour peer in the House of Lords; Will Haire, the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Social Development; Neil Couling of the Department of Work and Pensions; Professor Eileen Evason, Chair of the Joint Standards Committee for the Social Security Agency and Les Allamby, Director of the Law Centre and Northern Ireland representative on the Social Security Advisory Committee.
